Modin, Warriner returning to Lightning

ESPN.com news services

TAMPA, Fla. -- The Tampa Bay Lightning re-signed restricted free agent left wings Fredrik Modin and Todd Warriner to multiyear contracts, general manager Rick Dudley announced Monday.

Terms of the contracts were not disclosed.

"By the end of last season Fredrik Modin had become a dominant winger, and certainly he's a key to our success in the future," Dudley said. "And last season Todd Warriner started to play at a level that many people had expected of him for a long time. Both these signings are significant for us."

Modin, a 6-foot-4, 220 pounds, registered a career-high 22 goals, 26 assists and 48 points in 80 games with the Lightning last season.

Modin, 25, also led the Lightning in shots with 167, and ranked second behind Vincent Lecavalier in goals, assists and points.

Warriner, 6-1, 198, appeared in 55 games with the Lightning last season, recording 24 points with 11 goals.
