Reds re-sign INF Mark Lewis to one-year deal

CINCINNATI (Ticker) -- The Cincinnati Reds today re-signed infielder Mark Lewis to a one-year contract.

Financial terms were not disclosed for Lewis, who made $500,000 with the Reds last season.

The 29-year-old Lewis hit .254 with six homers and 28 RBI in 88 games last season, while being used in a backup role behind shortstop Barry Larkin, second baseman Pokey Reese and third baseman Aaron Boone.

A native of Hamilton, Ohio, Lewis was a first-round pick of Cleveland in 1988 and played for the Indians from 1991 through 1994. A lifetime .265 hitter with 46 homers and 282 RBI, Lewis also has played for Detroit, San Francisco and Philadelphia in his career.
