Marlins 2B Castillo suffers dislocated left shoulder

MIAMI (Ticker) -- Luis Castillo, one of the most productive members of the lowly Florida Marlins, will be sidelined indefinitely after suffering a dislocated left shoulder in tonight's 5-4 13-inning win over the Los Angeles Dodgers.

A second baseman, Castillo suffered the injury in the top of the ninth while diving for Todd Hollandsworth's grounder up the middle. He left after landing awkwardly on the shoulder. Results of X-rays were not immediately available.

In the second inning, Castillo recorded his 50th stolen base, becoming the third player in club history with 50 steals in a season, joining Chuck Carr and Quilvio Veras.

In his fourth season, Castillo is batting .302 with no homers and 28 RBI in 128 games this season. He celebrates his 24th birthday on Sunday.

At 57-82, the Marlins own the second-worst record in the National League, one game ahead of the Chicago Cubs.
