AMERICAN LEAGUE
Orioles-Indians
Baltimore: The Orioles weren't overly excited about losing an off day to make up a May 16 rainout in Cleveland on Thursday to begin with. Their attitude was worse after dropping a 2-1 decision in 10 innings. Baltimore is 6-1 in extra innings. "I don't think anybody likes to lose an off day,'' manager Mike Hargrove said. "It takes you out of your ordinary routine. But it was on the schedule and you play it.'' ... The Orioles snapped a 15-inning scoreless streak on Thursday when Geronimo Gil walked with the bases loaded in the seventh to force in the tying run. ... RHP Jason Johnson had his best outing of 2002, allowing just one run and three hits in a season-high eight innings on Thursday but got a no-decision. It was only his second start since April 20 after being sidelined for six weeks with a broken finger. "It was a little disappointing not to win,'' he said. "But I'm real happy with how I did.'' ... RHP Willis Roberts had not given up an earned run in 11 2/3 innings until he gave up the winning run Thursday.

Cleveland: The Indians will play 18 of their next 21 games on the road, including 12 straight on a cross-country jaunt to Colorado, Montreal, Florida and Boston. Manager Charlie Manuel isn't worried about his team not hitting at Coors Field with its infamous humidor designed to keep balls in the park. "We're going to dehuminate that thing out there,'' he said. ... LHP Chuck Finley moved into some elite company on Thursday by striking out eight in the Indians' 2-1 win over the Orioles. Finley passed Hall of Famer Christy Mathewson and is in 23rd place on the career strikeout list with 2,505. Finley is just the 24th pitcher in history to reach the 2,500 plateau. Next on the list for Finley is Hall of Famer Tim Keefe (2,533) in 22nd place. ... The Indians went 5-1 against the Orioles this year and have won the season series seven times in nine years. ... The Indians signed four more draft picks on Thursday: LHP Michael Hernandez (sixth round), 1B William Peavey (11th), RHP Chris White (20th) and INF Aaron Davidson (46th). The club has signed 13 of its 54 picks. ... OF Chris Magruder was in a 3-for-29 slump before hitting his game-winning triple Thursday.
