Dipping into the mailbag

I usually agree with the rankings that you post, however, placing the Angels ahead of the Giants is ridiculous! Yes, the Angels have been hot, but it's a long, long season. Their starting five might be better than the Giants', but I like the Giants' bullpen much better. My key argument is that if you think the Angels are going to continue to hit like this, you're crazy! In my opinion, the Giants' offense will only get better as the season goes on while the Angels will eventually start to slip.

Do you actually think the Red Sox are better than the Yankees? Derek Lowe, John Burkett, and Darren Oliver have come back to earth. Even if Pedro Martinez holds up all year he alone won't be enough to dethrone the Yankees.

Is it too much to ask for Nomar Garciaparra, Shea Hillenbrand, Johnny Damon, Pedro Martinez, Derek Lowe and (umm) Ugie Urbina to be voted onto the AL All-Star team? This Boston Red Sox fan says, "Hell, no!!"

Enough is enough. Don't you think the citizens of Red Sox Nation know what you are up to? Between the "Curse of the Bambino" and the "SI Cover Curse" we have enough to deal with. Do us all a favor and make us No. 2 or something. I don't think I can handle "The Power Alley Curse."

Best record in baseball, five wins out of eight games against the Yankees, there is no question for the second week in a row you got it correct having the Red Sox at No. 1. Kudos, now keep up the good work. That is short and simple, much like the Yankees' starting rotation.

You say the Mariners are struggling, and yet they have a three-game lead in the AL West and the third-best record in the majors. Just wait till they heat up!

Hey, if my Texas Rangers could have a payroll like the Yankees, they could be near the top of the Power Alley, too. Wait a minute, they do have a payroll like the Yankees, but they still stink. Thanks a lot for your contract, A-Rod. I hope you're spending your millions well.

The Yankees split with the Red Sox at Fenway Park against the best pitching Boston had to offer while the Yankees' starting staff is so struggling they've had eight different starters in 10 games. I've got five words to the fans in Beantown: "is that all you got?"
