Twins catch Mauer with top pick

ESPN.com

Mark Teixeira
Georgia Tech third baseman Mark Teixeira went fifth overall to the Rangers.
The Minnesota Twins had the first pick in Tuesday's first-year player draft and selected local product Joe Mauer, a high school catcher from St. Paul. USC pitcher Mark Prior, the consensus top player and regarded by many scouts as the best college pitcher ever, went second overall to the Chicago Cubs.

Off Base: No need for TV
It's absolutely crazy to think that the baseball draft should be televised.
