LOS ANGELES (AP) _ Eric Karros became the first player in the Dodgers' 111-year history to hit two homers in an inning, connecting for a solo shot and a three-run drive in a nine-run sixth Tuesday night that led Los Angeles over Montreal 14-6.

Dodgers manager Davey Johnson, who had arthroscopic surgery on his left shoulder in the morning, was back on the bench to watch Karros' display.

Los Angeles hit a season-high six homers during its 16-hit attack, including a three-run blast by Todd Hundley and solo shots by Jim Leyritz, Devon White and starting pitcher Ismael Valdes.

Karros greeted reliever Julio Santana (0-4) with a leadoff homer in the sixth that put the Dodgers ahead 6-5. It was the 500th career extra-base hit for Karros, who joined Willie Davis and Steve Garvey as the only players to reach that milestone with the team since the Dodgers left Brooklyn in 1958.

Karros capped the inning with a three-run homer, his 30th. He became the 21st player in NL history to homer twice in one inning, and recorded the 17th two-homer game of his career.

The switch-hitting Hundley batted left-handed against lefty reliever Scott Forster and hit a three-run homer in the sixth.

Terry Adams (6-6) pitched 1 1-3 innings of one-hit relief to earn the victory, after the Expos tied the score at 5 with three runs in the sixth against Valdes.

Valdes connected in the fifth for his first homer in 318 career at-bats. He waved to the crowd of 29,084 as he touched home plate.

When he returned to the dugout, he got the silent treatment from the rest of the Dodgers, most of whom sat stone-faced and cross-legged for about 10 seconds before jumping up and mobbing him.

Fernando Seguignol homered and hit a sacrifice fly for the Expos.

Notes: The last NL player to homer twice in an inning was St. Louis' Fernando Tatis, who hit two grand slams against Chan Ho Park at Dodger Stadium on April 23, 1999. ... The game did not lack for power despite the fact that both teams' respective home run leaders were scratched just before game time _ Dodgers left fielder Gary Sheffield because of flu-like symptoms and Expos right fielder Vladimir Guerrero because of a strained left shoulder. ... Leyritz was the sixth different player to start for the Dodgers in the six games Gary Sheffield has missed this season. It's the first time Leyritz has started in left field since April 13, 1996 with the Yankees. The Dodgers are 1-5 when Sheffield hasn't been in the starting lineup.
