RECAP | BOX SCORE | GAME LOG

LOS ANGELES (AP) _ Jeff Reed drew a bases-loaded walk from Antonio Osuna in the 10th inning Wednesday night as Chicago beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 5-4, the Cubs' 13th victory in 19 games.

Osuna (2-5) gave up a one-out double to Sammy Sosa, walked Mark Grace intentionally and hit Damon Buford with a 1-2 pitch to load the bases.

With the infield in, first baseman Eric Karros knocked down a grounder by Gary Matthews Jr. and made a desperate throw to the plate to force Sosa by a step.

Osuna got ahead of Reed 0-2 before walking him to force in Grace.

Tim Worrell (2-3), who escaped his own jam in the ninth, pitched one inning. Rick Aguilera thwarted another Dodgers threat in the 10th for his 27th save in 34 chances.

Los Angeles put runners on the corners with no one out in the 10th on singles by pinch-hitters Tom Goodwin and Jim Leyritz. But Aguilera struck out Devon White and got Mark Grudzielanek on a pop up.

Shawn Green walked to load the bases for Gary Sheffield who fouled out to Grace at first to end the game.

Jon Lieber, coming off his worst outing of the season, took a 4-3 lead into the eighth before Dave Hansen hit his fifth pinch-homer this.

Hansen's homer, which ended a string of 14 consecutive batters retired by Lieber, was his 11th career pinch homer and 10th with the Dodgers, breaking the franchise record.

Lieber, 5-0 in his last nine starts, was charged with four runs and five hits in eight innings _ the 15th time in 17 starts that the right-hander has gone at least seven. He struck out eight and walked none for the fifth time this season.

Kevin Brown, failing for the third straight time to get his 11th victory, gave up four runs and nine hits _ tying season highs in both departments.

The Cubs snapped a 1-1 tie with three runs in the third on four hits and two throwing errors by catcher Todd Hundley.

Jeff Huson dashed home on the front end of a double steal with Eric Young. Ricky Gutierrez drove in Young with a single and Grace's double scored Gutierrez to make it 4-1 lead.

The Dodgers closed to 4-3 with two runs in their half of the third. Lieber gave up a leadoff triple by Cora, hit White with one out and surrendered consecutive RBI singles by Grudzielanek and Green. But Sheffield, 3-for-21 lifetime against Lieber, grounded into a double play with the tying run at third.

Sammy Sosa's RBI double in the first gave the Cubs a 1-0 lead. Sosa is tied with San Francisco's Jeff Kent for the NL lead with 102 RBIs.

Hundley broke out of an 0-for-18 slump, including 10 strikeouts, in the second with his 18th homer. The shot, only the ninth fair ball hit into the loge level in Dodger Stadium's 39-year history, tied it at 1.

Notes: Brown, who has not won in three starts, struck out five and walked two. It was only the third time in 16 starts he has allowed more than one walk. The only other time Brown went three straight outings this season without a victory was May 5-16, all no-decisions. ... The Cubs' previous steal of home was by Brian McRae, on April 13, 1996, at San Francisco. ... John Frederick, who played for the Dodgers from 1929-34, previously held the mark for pinch-hit homers. ... Dodgers SS Alex Cora was spiked on the arm by Young in the third inning during Young's steal of second.
