ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) _ Adam Kennedy and Troy Glaus each had three hits and drove in three runs Friday night as the Anaheim Angels downed the Los Angeles Dodgers 12-5.

Anaheim improved to 6-9 against Los Angeles in interleague play between the neighbors. The attendance of 43,619 marked the Angels' first sellout since their home opener.

Garret Anderson had three hits and two RBIs for the Angels, who scored seven runs off Darren Dreifort (3-3) in the first four innings and five more against relievers Trever Miller and Alan Mills.

Anaheim's Kent Bottenfield (4-5), a former National Leaguer who has never lost to the Dodgers, allowed four runs on seven hits in five innings. He struck out five and walked three.

Bottenfield, acquired by Anaheim along with Kennedy in an offseason trade that sent Jim Edmonds to St. Louis, has a 5-0 career record against Los Angeles.

Paul LoDuca, called up from Triple-A Albuquerque earlier this week to back up catcher Chad Kreuter in the wake of Todd Hundley's injury, hit a three-run homer in his season debut for the Dodgers.

Los Angeles' Eric Karros and Kevin Elster each hit solo homers, Karros his 15th leading off the second inning, and Elster his ninth off Eric Weaver in the eighth.

The Angels went up 3-0 in the opening inning, then Kennedy helped build the lead to 6-1 in the third with his first homer since April 27.

Kennedy's two-run shot, which sailed 417 feet into the stands in right-center, came after Bengie Molina singled a run home earlier in the inning.

After LoDuca's homer cut the deficit to 6-4 in the top of the fourth, Anaheim added lone runs in each of the next two innings, then opened it up with consecutive RBI doubles by Anderson and Glaus and Kennedy's RBI single during a three-run sixth.

Anaheim sent nine men to the plate in the first inning, with Tim Salmon singling home one run, followed by Glaus' two-run single for a quick 3-0 lead.

Dreifort gave up at least six earned runs for the third time in his last four starts. The Dodgers' right-hander has allowed 21 earned runs in his last 19 1-3 innings since his two-hit shutout at St. Louis on May 12.

Notes: Dodgers ace Kevin Brown, who had to leave Wednesday's game after he was hit in the lower right leg by a line drive hit by the Mets' Edgardo Alfonzo in the sixth inning, said before the game against Anaheim that he didn't expect to miss his next turn, Monday at Texas. ... Los Angeles closer Jeff Shaw is still taking it easy after being given some time off by manager Davey Johnson because of soreness in the back of his pitching shoulder. "Nobody's ever suggested the DL," Shaw said. ... Angels manager Mike Scioscia, who caught more games than anyone else in Dodgers' history, said, "Obviously, I cut my teeth in the Dodgers' organization and I learned all my baseball there, so I have a lot of people there to thank for my opportunity." ... Elster started at third for only the second time in his career, filling in for the injured Adrian Beltrie. Elster's other start at third was Sept. 6, 1995, when he was with Philadelphia.
