SAN FRANCISCO (AP) _ Livan Hernandez scattered eight hits in 8 1-3 innings and had a run-scoring double, and Jeff Kent and Bill Mueller each homered as the San Francisco Giants beat the Philadelphia Phillies 7-3 Tuesday night.

Hernandez (4-5), whose sacrifice also set up the first of three sixth-inning runs, struck out seven and walked one and fell two outs short of a complete game. Robb Nen got his eighth save, inducing a game-ending double play from Alex Arias.

However, the win didn't come without some cost for the Giants. Shortstop Rich Aurilia left in the second inning with a strained left hamstring and is day to day. Aurilia, who will be re-evaluated Wednesday, was hurt while sliding safely into home on the first of Bobby Estalella's three singles. He was replaced by Ramon Martinez.

Andy Ashby (2-6) had another rough outing for the Phillies, who acquired him in a November trade with San Diego. Ashby, losing for the fifth time in six decisions, gave up six runs and 10 hits in 5 2-3 innings. He walked three and struck out one.

Marvin Benard drew a leadoff walk in the third, and after Ashby retired Mueller and Barry Bonds, Kent connected for his 13th home run, driving a 2-0 pitch over the the center-field wall.

Hernandez helped himself in the fourth by lining a double to left to score Estalella.

San Francisco put up three more runs in the in the sixth on Benard's two-out RBI single, which chased Ashby. Bryan Ward relieved and Mueller connected for his third home run of the season.

Ron Gant drove in runs with a solo homer in the fourth and and RBI single in the eighth. Mickey Morandini hit an RBI single in the ninth.
