Bautista's blast carries Marlins

RECAP | BOX SCORE | GAME LOG

CINCINNATI (AP) -- Danny Bautista's three-run homer in the eighth inning gave the Florida Marlins a 3-1 victory over the Cincinnati Reds on Sunday.

The Marlins, who snapped an eight-game skid Saturday night, won a series at Cinergy Field for the first time since September 1996.

Ryan Dempster (6-3) allowed nine hits and struck out six in 7 2/3 innings.

Antonio Alfonseca pitched the ninth for his 15th save.

Luis Castillo stole three bases for the Marlins. He leads the majors with 22 steals.

Bautista's homer left Reds starter Denny Neagle with his fourth consecutive no-decision.

Neagle had pitched seven scoreless innings, scattering five hits and striking out seven, and left after Cliff Floyd's leadoff single in the eighth.

Scott Sullivan (1-3) relieved and struck out Preston Wilson, gave up a single to Kevin Millar and struck out Derrek Lee before Bautista homered to left field.

Dmitri Young drove in the Reds' run with a double in the first, scoring Barry Larkin, who had singled.

Game notes
Floyd has reached base in a career-high 26 consecutive games. ... Castillo stole second and third after leading off the third inning with a single, and added No. 22 in the seventh by stealing second. Castillo has failed to reach base only once in 33 games. ... Former Braves closer Mark Wohlers is scheduled to begin a minor league rehab assignment by pitching one inning Monday for the Reds' Class A affiliate in Dayton. Wohlers tore a ligament in his right elbow and had reconstructive surgery last July. ... About 3,500 fans came to Cinergy Field early for Camera Day, when they were allowed to go onto the field to snap photos of Reds players up close.
