RECAP | BOX SCORE | GAME LOG

MILWAUKEE (AP) -- Andres Galarraga drove in six runs and Greg Maddux shut down Milwaukee on four hits in seven innings as the Atlanta Braves beat the Brewers 11-2 Wednesday night.

Galarraga, Andruw Jones and Quilvio Veras all went 4-for-5 in a methodical victory for Atlanta, which pounded out a season-high 17 hits.

Greg Maddux
Atlanta's Greg Maddux pitched seven innings Wednesday, allowing only four hits and one run.
Galarraga had a pair of two-run doubles and a two-run single for the Braves, who scored four runs in the ninth off Hector Ramirez as they won for the ninth time in 11 games.

Maddux (6-1), who had just one win in his previous four starts, struck out six while silencing a Brewers offense that scored 57 runs in its previous seven games. Milwaukee's only run against Maddux scored on pinch-hitter Mark Sweeney's RBI single in the fifth.

Atlanta's Chipper Jones, who sprained his right big toe Tuesday night and was out of the lineup for the first time this season. Keith Lockhart had a two-run homer in the ninth while playing in his place.

Milwaukee had its three-game winning streak snapped and lost for just the second time on a nine-game homestand that ends Thursday. Luis Lopez had a pinch-hit solo homer in the eighth for the Brewers.

Veras, hitting second in a reconfigured batting order, scored four runs for the Braves.

Jimmy Haynes (5-3) struck out a season-high five for Milwaukee. He fell behind 2-0 when Galarraga scored on Reggie Sanders' groundout in the second and Andruw Jones singled home Veras in the third.

Atlanta scored three runs in the fifth on four consecutive hits, capped by Galarraga's two-run double. Jones also had an RBI single in the inning against Haynes, who gave up eight hits and walked two in five innings.

Galarraga's two-run, broken-bat single made it 7-1 in the seventh off Steve Woodard, who was unofficially removed from Milwaukee's starting rotation Wednesday after winning just one of his previous 17 starts.
