DUNEDIN, Fla. (AP) _ Raul Mondesi and Carlos Delgado homered, and Chris Carpenter made his longest outing of the spring as the Toronto Blue Jays beat the Philadelphia Phillies 7-5 on Wednesday night.

In his third start of the spring, Carpenter allowed two runs and four hits in four innings, striking out four.

``I was really pleased how I threw, I was able to extend it a little longer,'' Carpenter said. ``It was the best I've felt since probably 1998.''

Phillies' starter Robert Person got roughed up when he faced his former teammates, allowing five runs and four hits in four innings.

The Phillies got three runs in the sixth off of Clayton Andrews, as Tom Prince doubled with the bases loaded. Prince's hit came off Nerio Rodriguez, who relieved Andrews after he was hit on his left arm by a line drive off the bat of Alex Arias.

Andrews will have precautionary X-rays on Thursday but should be fine.

Mondesi had a two-run homer in the third, that cleared the scoreboard in left center.

Delgado's was the game winner in the fifth, as Craig Grebeck followed two outs later with a double, driving in Cruz with an insurance run.

Notes: The Blue Jays gave center-field job to Jose Cruz on Wednesday, when they optioned Vernon Wells to Triple-A Syracuse. ... Billy Koch allowed one hit and struck out two to earn his first save of the spring.
