PHOENIX (AP) _ Willie Bloomquist had three hits and three RBIs and Jay Buhner drove in two runs as the Seattle Mariners beat Oakland 9-5 Friday, snapping the Athletics' nine-game spring winning streak.

Dan Wilson added two hits and drove in a run, helping the Mariners end their three-game skid.

Frankie Rodriguez (1-0) got the win with 1 1/3 innings of hitless ball in relief of John Halama, who allowed five runs on six hits in the first 3 2/3 innings.

Doug Johns, one of four pitchers vying for the fifth spot in Oakland's rotation, took the loss, allowing five runs on seven hits in 4 2/3 innings. Oakland starter Mark Mulder, who also is a candidate for the fifth rotation spot, went four innings and allowed four runs on six hits.

Jeremy Giambi homered for the second time in three days for Oakland, which lost its first game since March 7, a 6-3 defeat to San Diego.

John Jaha also homered for the A's. Rich Becker added three hits and an RBI and Ben Grieve added two hits.

Giambi's home run off Halama in the fourth gave the A's a 5-4 lead.

But four Mariners pitchers, including potential closer Kazuhiro Sasaki, then held Oakland scoreless the rest of the way.

Buhner's sacrifice fly in the fifth tied it up, and Wilson's run-scoring double in the sixth gave Seattle the lead.
