TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) _ With Travis Lee unable to do anything but wait for another at-bat, the Arizona Diamondbacks lost their punch at the wrong time against San Diego.

George Williams hit a go-ahead double with two out in the ninth inning Tuesday, and the Padres beat the Diamondbacks 10-9 in a game which Arizona led 5-1 in the fourth and 9-8 in the seventh.

San Diego starter Sterling Hitchcock allowed five runs _ four earned _ two hits and five walks in 3 2-3 innings, while Arizona's Brian Anderson gave up one run and five hits in four innings.

San Diego trailed 9-8 in the ninth before pinch-hitter Sean Burroughs singled off Geraldo Guzman, Kory DeHaan doubled and Dusty Allen hit a sacrifice fly.

John Roskos had three hits, including a solo home run leading off a five-run sixth inning that put the Padres ahead 8-5. It was Roskos' second homer in three days and helped raise his spring average to .833 (10-for-12).

Turner Ward had a three-run double as the Diamondbacks took a 5-1 lead in the fourth.

Doubles by David Newhan and Ralph Milliard and a sacrifice fly by Al Martin closed the Padres to 5-3 in the fifth.

Newhan and Milliard also had RBIs in San Diego's five-run sixth off Brad Clontz, who allowed four hits and two walks without getting an out.

Lee hit his NL-high seventh double of the spring to cap a four-run seventh that gave Arizona a 9-8 lead.

Steve Finley and David Dellucci had RBI singles in the rally, and Rob Ryan hit a sacrifice fly.

Lee, who played first base for the second time in three days, has 13 hits in his last 30 at-bats. Starting first baseman Erubiel Durazo has tendinitis in his left wrist and has not played since Friday, although his injury is not considered serious.
