FORT MYERS, Fla. (AP) _ Jalal Leach tripled to lead off the 12th inning and scored on Fausto Tejero's suicide squeeze as the Philadelphia Phillies rallied from a seven-run deficit on Sunday to beat the Boston Red Sox 9-8.

Nomar Garciaparra made his spring debut for Boston, going 1-for-2 with a throwing error. He fielded two other grounders cleanly before leaving after three innings.

Garciaparra lead off the first with a single, Jeff Frye walked and John Valentin made a long out to center. After Mike Stanley was hit by a pitch, Troy O'Leary hit a grand slam as the Red Sox took a 7-0 lead off Paul Byrd with just one out.

But the Phillies came back with two homers from Rob Ducey and one apiece from Alex Arias, Chris Pritchett and Pat Burrell.

Philadelphia took an 8-7 lead in the 10th when Burrell doubled and scored on Pritchett's doubled. But Morgan Burkhart homered in the bottom of the 10th to prolong the game.

In the 12th, Leach tripled, Burrell struck out and Pritchett was intentionally walked. Tejero bunted back to the pitcher and the throw home was late, though the throw to first was in time to get the batter.

Manny Barrios pitched a perfect 12th, striking out two, to save the win for Doug Nickle. Josh Garrett was charged with the loss.
