PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. (AP) _ LaTroy Hawkins pitched four shutout innings and Doug Mientkiewicz went 2-for-3 with an RBI double to lead the Minnesota Twins to a 7-5 victory over the Texas Rangers on Sunday.

The Twins scored three runs in the second inning off Rangers starter Mark Clark. Minnesota had three hits in the inning, but only one _ Mientkiewicz's double _ left the infield. Shortstop Robin Jennings and second baseman Dan Cey each had infield hits in the inning.

A wild pitch and a rare throwing error by catcher Ivan Rodriguez helped the rally.

Clark went three innings, giving up three runs on three hits and a walk and struck out three.

Hawkins picked up the win, going four innings, allowing two hits and one walk with one strikeout. Hawkins has not allowed a run in nine innings this spring.

Lee Stevens and Frank Catalanotto each homered for the Rangers.

Minnesota's 10 wins leads the American League in spring training.

Notes: Rangers OF Rusty Greer returned to Texas after aggravating his injured right ankle. Greer, who has been hampered by inflammation around the ankle during the entire exhibition season, hung a cleat in the dirt while leaving the batter's box in the first inning against the Twins and was removed from the game. Greer wasn't scheduled to appear in the Rangers next two games, so the club elected to send him to Dallas to be examined by noted foot specialist Dr. Charles Cook. Greer should rejoin the club on Wednesday.
