Book on DT Richard Seymour

Here's a rundown of what I've had to say about Georgia DT RICHARD SEYMOUR since the beginning of the college-football season.

March 21
Could figure a little higher if the run on DTs begins in the 10-15 area.

Feb. 28
With his upside potential, look for Seymour to figure in the middle of round one.

Feb. 7
Has the talent necessary to take his game to a new level. Seymour could end up in the top 10-12 after all is said and done.

Jan.12
A potential difference-maker whose inconsistent play may hold him back. Good size at 6-foot-5, 290. He doesn't show great burst to the quarterback, but his wingspan and size make him an effective pass rusher. He needs to turn up his intensity and consistency.

Jan. 4
Up and down performer in certain games, but he has far too much physical talent to overlook during the early-mid portion of the draft.

Dec. 31
Still carries a high grade as far as the seniors are concerned, but his up and down performances in the SEC could result in some mixed opinion on whether he's future Pro Bowl material. In order to establish yourself as a top 10 pick in round one, you'd better convince the NFL brass that a trip to Hawaii in early February is in the cards. Seymour certainly has the natural talent to wreak havoc, but there were games this season in which he didn't always perform up to the level expected. Ultimately, you could see the 6-foot5, 290-pounder be regarded as a gamble on greatness if selected in the early-mid portion of round one.

Dec. 7
Has all the physical skills you could ask for in a super blue-chip DT, but he wasn't able to really take his game to a new level this season. Seymour shows dominating potential, but there are points in various games where he's not the imposing force his talent indicates.

Nov. 29
Finished with four tackles, including one stop behind the line of scrimmage in the Bulldogs' loss to Georgia Tech.

Nov. 22
Enjoyed a standout game in the rain against Ole Miss last week, as Seymour and the Bulldogs shut down the Rebels' ground attack, limiting them to just 101 yards rushing on 33 carries. Seymour, who was a force the entire way, was credited with 12 stops and four QB hurries.

Nov. 15
Needs to show a little more consistency for four quarters, but in just about every game he manages to show the potential to take over. Against Auburn, Seymour finished with eight tackles, including three stops behind the line of scrimmage.

Nov. 8
The Bulldogs and Seymour were off last week. On Saturday, Georgia goes on the road to face Auburn at Jordan-Hare Stadium. Seymour will be counted on to contain productive junior RB Rudi Johnson.

Nov. 1
Came through with a decent, yet unspectacular showing in the Bulldogs' loss to Florida last week, finishing with seven tackles, one stop behind the line of scrimmage, and two QB pressures.

Nov. 1
Totaled four stops and one QB pressure before leaving the game against Louisiana Tech early in the second quarter with turf toe. Morgan has been practicing this week and figures to be ready to go on Saturday against Virginia Tech.

Oct. 26
Operating against Kentucky's throw-it-all-over-the-place attack, Seymour finished with 12 tackles, two stops behind the line and two QB pressures. This week against Florida, he figures to be watched very closely by the NFL brass.
