Book on DT Shaun Rogers

Here's a rundown of what I've had to say about Texas DT SHAUN ROGERS since the beginning of the college-football season.

Jan. 4
Can not only use his huge 6-foot-4, 320-pound frame to jam the middle against the run, but Rogers also shows the necessary quickness to operate as more than just a stay-at-home type.

Dec. 31
Like Miami's Lewis, Rogers was also held back by injury this season. He was hampered by a high-ankle sprain he suffered against Houston. When at full strength, not only is the 6-foot-4, 320-pounder a major force against the run, but he'll also surprise you with his sound pass rush techniques.

Dec. 7
The 320-pounder has the ability to be a tremendous run-stopping DT in the mold of Norman Hand. Unfortunately, Rogers was held back this season due to the lingering effects of a high ankle sprain he suffered against Houston on Sept. 23.

Nov. 29
After dealing with the lingering effects of a high ankle sprain, Rogers is now getting closer to 100 percent. His ability to control the opposition's inside running game has been a key to the Longhorns' success on defense. Against Texas A&M last Friday, Rogers and the Longhorns' front seven limited the Aggies to just 81 yards on the ground. On the 26-yard scamper by Ja'Mar Toombs, Rogers and fellow senior DT Casey Hampton were watching from the sidelines.

Nov. 22
Rogers and the Longhorns are back in action on Friday when they take on the Aggies of Texas A&M in Austin.

Nov. 15
Has been held back due to a high ankle sprain. However, this past week against Kansas, Rogers performed at a top level, coming through with his best effort of the season. For the day, he recorded 6 tackles, including 2 stops behind the line of scrimmage and 2 QB pressures.
