Book on WR Chris Chambers

Here's a rundown of what I've had to say about Wisconsin WR CHRIS CHAMBERS since the beginning of the college-football season.

March 21
With his size and phenomenal athletic ability as well as his strong finish over the last four weeks of the regular season, Chambers has resurfaced as a probable mid-first rounder.

Jan. 4
In a four-game stretch during the 2000 season, Chambers performed at an All-American level.
Has a ton of talent, appearing to be held back some with the Badgers due to their lack of a big-time passing QB.

Dec. 31
Has the size (6-0, 205) and deep speed to provide key matchup advantages. With a little more consistency, Chambers could establish himself as a feared wideout in the NFL. His strong finish seems to have compensated for the fact that he missed the first four games of the 2000 campaign due to a stress fracture in his right foot. Also keep in mind that the Badgers lack the big-time passing QB to really allow Chambers to set the world on fire.

Dec. 7
Has vertical stretch ability and tremendous athleticism. He also came on like gangbusters over the last five weeks of the season. Keep in mind, though, Chambers did miss the first four games of the campaign with a stress fracture in his right foot and will drop a catchable pass on occasion.

Nov. 22
The Badgers had the week off. Next Chambers and the Badgers face Hawaii at Aloha Stadium.

Nov. 15
Missed the first four games of the season due to a stress fracture in his right foot, then caught 10 passes in his first three games back from the injury. However, over the past four games, Chambers has performed at an All-American level. He totaled 11 receptions for 173 yards against Purdue, then followed that up with an 11-catch, 191-yard performance against Iowa. He caught four passes for 82 yards two weeks ago versus Minnesota, then had three receptions for 59 yards against Indiana last Saturday. Keep in mind, the 6-foot, 208-pounder has ideal size, is a quality athletic talent and will run in the 4.38 range. With his strong performances over the past four weeks, it's easy to see why Chambers has surged into the top 25.
