Dock truly is a limited edition. |
When
Darnell Dockett gets drafted -- and he will -- he won't blow his cash on a Bentley. The Florida State DT's dream car? Try an ambulance: "I want the top cut off like a convertible, with a bed and a big screen in the back." That's Dock for you. The 6'4", 280-pound junior -- the one with the words "Limited" and "Edition" tattooed down his arms -- frequently makes headlines with odd pronouncements. Fine with FSU coach
Bobby Bowden -- as long as those are the only headlines he makes. Dockett plays like a wild man, one stutter-step from out-of-control -- and has been known to pop off at opponents and pick up a personal foul or two. Says Dockett: "They tell me, 'You've got to be careful. You're a premier player and you've got to carry a nice image.'" Fat chance -- though a nice image would fit his nice stats. Dockett set the FSU single-season record with 22 TFLs and was All-ACC in '01. He's expected to be the kingpin of FSU's defense this year, the one to rescue the Noles in red-zone emergencies. That ambulance looks like a great idea after all.
