Field of 8 for Sunday's Pacific Classic

Breeders' Cup Classic and Dubai World Cup winner Pleasantly Perfect heads a field of eight hopefuls entered for Sunday's Grade 1, $1,000,000 Pacific Classic at Del Mar. Pleasantly Perfect drew post 5 and has been installed as the 6-5 morning line favorite under jockey Jerry Bailey.

In the Pacific Classic, Pleasantly Perfect will attempt to rebound from a defeat at the hands of Choctaw Nation in the San Diego Handicap in his last start. The San Diego was Pleasantly Perfect's first race back since returning from his trip to Dubai. Choctaw Nation, who is undefeated in his career at 5-for-5, is listed as the third choice in the Classic at 9-2 odds. He drew post 3 and will be ridden by Victor Espinoza.

Perfect Drift, who finished second in the Whitney Handicap at Saratoga two weeks ago, is shipping West for the Pacific Classic. He is being held as the morning-line second choice at 7-2 odds and will be breaking from post four with Pat Day aboard.

Also entered the star-studded Pacific Classic field are Hollywood Gold Cup winner Total Impact with post 6 (Mike Smith, 6-1), Stephen Foster winner Colonial Colony with post 2 (Rafael Bejarano, 8-1), San Diego Hcp. third-place finisher During with post 8 (Corey Nakatani, 12-1), San Diego fifth-place finisher Night Patrol with post 7 (Tyler Baze, 20-1), and South American import El Elogiado with post 1 (Kent Desormeaux, 30-1).
