ARCADIA, Calif. -- Smok'n Frolic completed a banner Sunshine Millions day for Florida-breds by taking the $750,000 Distaff, the richest race run at Santa Anita.
Jerry Bailey rode Smok'n Frolic, who paid $5.60 as the favorite. She is trained in Florida by Todd Pletcher, who had assistant Michael "Whitey" McCarthy saddle the filly at Santa Anita. Smok'n Frolic, a 4-year-old daughter of Smoke Glacken, has now won six times in 15 starts for the Dogwood Stable partnership headed by Cot Campbell. Paul Orrefice, one of the co-owners of Smok'n Frolic, represented Dogwood at Santa Anita.
