Valid Video upsets Excessivepleasure

HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. -- Valid Video, making his first start in over four months, edged away from the odds-on favorite, Excessivepleasure, to win a nearly race-long duel in the $250,000 Sunshine Millions Dash, a seven-furlong race for 3-year-olds. Edgar Prado was aboard the winner.

Valid Video won the $250,000 Sunshine Millions Dash at Gulfstream Park.
Valid Video won the first two starts of his career at Monmouth Park, including the Grade 3 Sapling Stakes, then finished a distant fourth in his only subsequent race, the Sept. 15 Futurity at Belmont.

"He was sick that day," said Dennis Manning, who trains Valid Video in Ocala for owner Mac Fehsenfeld. "It was evidently a virus, because he had a 104 temperature the next day. We gave him a lot of time off, and when we saw the Sunshine Millions, we figured this would be a good spot to bring him back."

Valid Video, a Florida-bred by Valid Wager, won by a half-length over Excessivepleasure, with Supah Blitz another 3 1/4 lengths back in third. The winner ran the seven furlongs in 1:22.38 and returned $7.40 as the second choice.
