Two-year-old Mayakovsky broke a Saratoga track record in his racing debut.
SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. -- Mayakovsky made a spectacular racing debut when he sped 5 1/2 furlongs in 1:03 1-5 in Wednesday's third race at Saratoga, breaking a 55-year-old track record.

In winning by 1 1/4 lengths in the race for 2-year-old maidens, Mayakovsky eclipsed the previous record of 1:03 2-5 set by Tea Olive on Aug. 30, 1946.
