But in the end, it was the American champion finishing just ahead of the 4-year-old Sakhee, owned by Godolphin Stable and operated by the Maktoum brothers of Dubai. Ridden by Chris McCarron, Tiznow became the first horse to win back-to-back Classics. Last year, Tiznow beat Giant's Causeway in the Classic. Albert the Great set a grueling early pace but still finished third for trainer Nick Zito. Tiznow, trained by Jay Robbins, covered the 1 1-4 miles in 2:00 3-5, went off as the 6-1 fourth choice in the betting behind 2-1 Aptitude, 3-1 Galileo and 9-2 Sakhee. Aptitude, trained by Bobby Frankel, finished eighth. Galileo was sixth. Tiznow, who finished third in the Goodwood Breeders' Cup Handicap in his last start Oct. 7, has three wins, a second and two thirds in six starts this year. Last year, he won five of nine starts to earn Horse of the Year honors. The winner paid $15.80, $7.20 and $5.60. Sakhee returned $7.80 and $4.40 and Albert the Great paid $7.80.
