Big Bulldog?
Tucker High (Ga.) bruising running back Jabari Davis has moved Georgia back into the picture now that the university's coaching situation has finally taken shape.
Davis, a 6-foot, 230-pound senior, has already visited Tennessee and has Mississippi State and Alabama among his four finalists.
Florida State University offensive coordinator Mark Richt was announced as Georgia's new head coach on Tuesday afternoon, and Davis was awaiting a call from the new head man.
"I know what he brings to the table at Georgia and I'm sure he'll be calling in the next couple of weeks," Davis said on Tuesday. "I met him before when he came to my school and I'm sure that Georgia would interest me now." | | | North Clayton High (Ga.) quarterback D.J. Shockley committed to the University of Georgia. |
Davis said he's set to visit Mississippi State on Jan. 12 and Alabama the following weekend.
"At first, Alabama was out of the picture, but I met some of the new coaches early," said Davis, who put the Crimson Tide back on his wish list after TCU coach Dennis Franchione left for Alabama. "They got on me right away and that's why they're back in the picture."
No Shocker
There aren't many quarterbacks left who haven't committed to a college, but North Clayton High(Ga.) quarterback D.J. Shockley isn't in such a rush.
The 6-foot-1, 185-pound senior has visited Florida State, and plans to visit Georgia Tech, North Carolina and Clemson in the next month. He may also join Davis in elevating the Georgia Bulldogs.
"He just wants to explore all his options," said Tanya Shockley, D.J.'s mother. "He wanted to wait and see what happened down in Georgia with the coaching position there."
