Top 10 Cross Country Performers of the Week

Runners and performances listed in no particular order.

Alan Webb -- South Lakes High (Va.)
Despite poor conditions, the senior broke his own course mark and won the 22nd Foot Locker South Regional by the largest margin ever at McAlpine Park in North Carolina on Nov. 25. The future University of Michigan runner finished with a three-mile time of 14:43, nine seconds ahead of last year's course-record time. Webb crossed the finish line 27 seconds in front of Handley High's (Va.) Bobby Lockhart.

Seton McAndrews -- Queensbury High (N.Y.)
The senior from upstate New York won the Foot Locker Northeast Regional at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx on Nov. 25. McAndrews ran the hilly 5,000-meter course in 15:33 to qualify for the national championships on Dec. 9 in Orlando, Fla. McAndrews pulled away in the homestretch.

Natasha Roetter -- Lexington High (Mass.)
The junior easily won the girls' title at the Foot Locker Northeast Regional at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx with a time of 17:58.2 on the 5,000-meter course. Roetter took over at the two-mile mark and coasted to a 19-second victory.
Ryan Hall of Big Bear High (Calif.) won the California Division IV state meet on Nov. 25.

Christa Benton -- Keswick Christian High (Fla.)
The senior led from start to finish and ended with a time of 17:56 to win the Foot Locker South Regional on Nov. 25 at McAlpine Park in North Carolina. She was the only runner to finish the 5,000-meter race in less than 18 minutes and qualified for the national meet with the win. Kara Scanlin of Jacksonville Episcopal High took second, marking the first time Florida runners finished 1-2 in the meet's 22-year history.

Ryan Hall -- Big Bear High (Calif.)
Hall narrowly missed the state meet record at the California state meet with a 5,000-meter time of 14:50 at Woodward Park on Nov. 25. The senior won his second straight Division IV crown and is leaning toward running in the Foot Locker West Regional on Dec. 2 after saying he would bypass the event a few weeks ago.

Anita Siraki -- Glendale Hoover High (Calif.)
Siraki defended the Division I girls' title at the California state meet on Nov. 25 with a 3.1-mile time of 16:59. She won by 43 seconds over freshman Liza Pasciuto of Murrieta Valley High.

Dathan Ritzenhein -- Rockford High (Mich.)
The University of Colorado-bound Ritzenhein will try to defend his national title on Dec. 9 after breaking his own course record with a three-mile time of 14:35 to win the Foot Locker Midwest Regional at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside on Nov. 25.

Penny Splichal -- Dickinson High (N.D.)
The Arkansas-bound Splichal captured the girls' Foot Locker Midwest Regional with a course-record time of 17:22, which was 16 seconds faster than the second-place finisher.

Bobby Lockhart -- Handley High (Va.)
Lockhart couldn't dethrone Alan Webb at the Foot Locker South Regional, but it wasn't because of a lack of preparation. He teamed with Texan Steven Maddox prior to the race to try and knock off Webb, but the duo finished second and third, with Lockhart (15:07) ending up one second in front of Maddox.

Brian McGovern -- Fairfield Prep (Conn.)
McGovern finished second behind Seton McAndrews at the Foot Locker Northeast Regional to earn a spot at nationals on Dec. 9 in Orlando, Fla. McGovern crossed the finish line 10 meters after McAndrews with a time of 15:34.
