1. Immaculate Heart Academy (Washington Township, N.J) - (23-0-0) *2
For the first time since Sept. 6, there is a new No. 1 in girls' soccer. Formerly top-ranked Walt Whitman High (N.Y.) made an early exit from its state tournament, which left the door open for Immaculate Heart.

Melissa Shulman and Danielle Servedio couldn't help former No. 1 Walt Whitman High (N.Y). |
IHA continued its trip through the New Jersey Parochial tournament with a 1-0 win over Union Catholic High. Simone Dekker netted the only goal, which was assisted by Kristin Fisher and Michelle Santonacita. Next up for the new No. 1 is St. John Vianney High this Saturday (Nov. 18).
2. Walsh Jesuit HS (Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio) - (21-0-1) *5
Hamilton Badin High didn't prove to be much of an obstacle, as Walsh Jesuit cruised to the state title with a 4-1 win in the finals. Katie Schwager found the back of the net twice, while Kristen Weiss finished her incredible season with a goal, her 41st, and an assist, her 39th.
3. Cranford HS (Cranford, N.J.) - (18-0-0) *6
The showdown against former No. 10 Ramapo High was played in a downpour, but it didn't matter to the girls from Cranford. Lauren O'Donnell's goal 13 minutes into the contest stood up, as Cranford continued its postseason march with a 1-0 victory. A few names that may not show up in the box score but certainly contributed were Katie Donnelly, Teri Van Horn and Veronica Heller.
4. Jesuit HS (Portland, Ore.) - (18-0-0) *7
Running its unbeaten streak against Oregon opponents to 128 straight games, Jesuit won its Class 4A semifinal game, 1-0, against Tualatin High. Maggie Barsotti netted the only goal for Jesuit, which will face Centennial High in the state finals this Saturday (Nov. 18).
5. River Hill HS (Clarksville, Md.) - (17-0-0) *8
River Hill escaped the 3A semifinals by dismissing Thomas Johnson High on penalty kicks. The only team standing between River Hill and the title is Bel Air High.
6. Southside HS (Rockville Centre, N.Y.) - (18-0-0) *NR
The Cyclones pulled off one of the biggest upsets of the girls' soccer season when they beat then-No. 1 Walt Whitman, 1-0. Corry Silon scored the goal and Meredith Finch recorded the shutout in the net as Southside earned some recognition this week in the New York state quarterfinals. The season continues against Monroe Woodbury High in the semifinals.
7. Carmel HS (Carmel, Ind.) - (22-1-1) *9
For the second week in a row, Carmel moved up the ladder without playing a game. Carmel already wrapped up the Indiana state title a couple of weeks ago, but with the misfortunes of some teams in the Top 10, Carmel continues to climb the charts.
8. Ludlow HS (Ludlow, Mass.) - (18-0-0) *NR
Undefeated Ludlow earned a spot in the Top 10 with a 2-1 win against Minnechaug High for the Massachusetts Division I West title. Ludlow easily passed another test in the state semifinals. St. Peter-Marian High was just a footnote as Ludlow cruised, 6-0.
9. Wayzata HS (Plymouth, Minn.) - (20-1-0) *NR
It took a couple of weeks, but Wayzata is finally seeing the rewards of its Minnesota AA state title. The girls beat Edina High on Nov. 2, 3-0, for the championship behind goals from Abby Metz, Jenny Kaegebein and Dani Klinsing, with Meghan Leahey adding two assists. The win helped Wayzata avenge its only loss of the season, a 3-1 defeat to Edina earlier in the year.
10. Sandia HS (Albuquerque, N.M.) - (21-2-0) *NR
The Sandia boys' soccer team received a great deal of attention for a majority of the regular season, but it was the girls' team that won the state title. With several national powers losing in state tournaments, Sandia, which hasn't played since Nov. 4, earned the final spot in the Top 10. On Nov. 4, Sandia beat La Cueva High, 3-1, for the New Mexico state title behind a two-goal effort from Natasha Lee.
