3. Maria Carrillo HS (Santa Rosa, Calif.) - (18-0-0) *3
Maria Carrillo responded to losing four players for the remainder of the season due to suspensions with a 9-0 thrashing of Ukiah High. The players violated unspecified school and team rules. Kasparek continued her assault on Connecticut keepers with three goals.
5. Walsh Jesuit HS (Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio) - (18-0-1) *5
Reversing the outcome of a year ago, Walsh Jesuit dropped Bay High, 2-0, to win a regional semifinal game on Wednesday. Kristen Weiss scored both goals as Walsh avenged a 2-1 loss to Bay last year in the playoffs. WJ will face West Geauga High in the regional finals Saturday (Nov. 4).
6. Cranford HS (Cranford, N.J.) - (16-0-0) *7
The girls from New Jersey were not looking past Summit High this week. Union Catholic has won the last three Union County titles while ending Cranford's season the last two years.
7. Jesuit HS (Portland, Ore.) - (14-0-0) *8
Jesuit just keeps winning. The team closed out the regular season with a 3-0 blanking of Sunset High. Jesuit has not allowed a goal since a 3-1 victory against West Linn High back on Sept. 26. Ramapo earned a spot in the title contest with a shootout win against Ridgewood High. After playing to a 1-1 tie, Lizzie Reed, Carolyn Warhaftig and Ashley Sabon each beat the keeper in the shootout session to put Ramapo over the top.
10. Carmel HS (Carmel, Ind.) - (22-1-1) *NR
Well, look who's back. Carmel, after losing, 2-1, to Center Grove High in early October, did not allow a goal the rest of the season. Carmel won its state-record fourth state championship by scoring a state-record five goals in the title game against Chesterton High last Saturday. Alison Brown scored twice, while Kelly Renie, Leslie Wells and Emily Heitholt all found the back of the net in the 5-0 blanking. Chesterton only managed one shot on goal. Carmel began the season as the No. 5 team in the SchoolSports.com poll and could move up now that the rest of the teams in the Top 10 are entering state tournament play.
Dropped Out
No. 6 Woodbury HS (Woodbury, Minn.) - lost to Wayzata High, 2-1, in the Class AA state quarterfinals.
