National Boys' Soccer Top 10



1. Sandia HS (Albuquerque, N.M.) - (19-0-0) *1
Ben Ashwill and Jon Ross Ballantyne led the top team in the country to a 2-0 win against La Cueva High. Then Jason Flores, Florin Beck and Ashwill each scored once in a 3-0 blanking of Sante Fe High. Michael Clarke added two assists.

2. Horizon HS (Thornton, Colo.) - (16-0-0) *2
Vince Kofa scored once and assisted on another goal as Horizon opened regional play with a 3-0 win over Fairview High.

3. Lincoln-Way HS (New Lenox, Ill.) - (21-1-1) *3
The sectionals opened with the usual result for L-W. Ned Grabavoy scored four times and chipped in with an assist as Lincoln-Way ripped Bolingbrook High, 9-1.

4. St. Benedicts (Newark, N.J.) - (12-0-1) *4
Two more wins keep the nation's No. 4 team in the same spot it was in last week.

5. Montgomery HS (Santa Rosa, Calif.) - (18-0-1) *5
Austin Peterson saved Montgomery's spot in the rankings with a goal in double overtime to lift his team to a 3-2 win over Maria Carrillo High. Matt Bly and Tom Wood scored in the first half to stake Montgomery to a 2-0 lead. Things were much easier against Ukiah High. Bly, David Ower and Alex Marquand-Willse each netted two goals and one assist in the 9-0 rout.

6. Don Bosco Prep (Ramsey, N.J.) - (17-0-1) *7 Three more shutouts have Don Bosco soaring. Tom Ferron tallied a hat trick as his team beat St. Joseph's-Metuchen High, 3-0. Ferron once again scored all of his team's goals as Bosco edged Ramsey High, 1-0. The squad also beat Nutley High, 5-0, this week.

7. Sachem Lake HS (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) - (14-0-1) *9
Six different players scored in Sachem Lake's 6-1 drubbing of Longwood High. Also this week, Carlos Delgado and Eddie Swanson netted goals in a 2-0 win against Brentwood High.

8. Leesville Road HS (Raleigh, N.C.) - (19-1-1) *10
A week after making its second appearance this season in the Top 10, Leesville Road is climbing the charts. Leesville dropped Athens Drive High, 2-0, behind goals from Ryan Deter and Grant Dickens. Matt Moore scored twice and Jordan Fulton dished out two assists in a 6-1 win against Enloe High.

9. Highland Ranch HS (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) - (14-0-1) *8 Regis High ruined Highland Ranch's perfect season with a 1-1 tie this week. As a result, the Ranch falls one spot to No. 9.

10. Brother Rice Academy (Birmingham, Mich.) - (17-1-0) *6
Despite losing, 1-0, to U-D Jesuit High, Brother Rice remains in the Top 10 - barely. The squad will have to rebound this week or face being dropped out of the rankings.
