Bucky Mink

Southwest Summer Circuit men's singles title. Mink, who just graduated from Newman Smith a couple of months ago, will be playing for the University of Oregon this year.

Julius Hodge - St. Raymond's High (N.Y.)
Boys' Basketball

Leading his New York Ravens to the final of the Big Time Tournament in Las Vegas, Nev., this 6-foot-6 swingman put up some impressive numbers. In the quarterfinals, against the highly touted Michigan Mustangs, Hodge netted 22 points in a 70-65 win. He followed that up with a 36-point barrage in an 86-85 overtime win against the Athletes First of Oklahoma. In the final against the Atlanta Celtics, he scored 27, but the Ravens came up one point shy, 77-76.

Brian Haggerty - Horsham American Legion (Pa.)

Playing in the loser's bracket of the Lower Montco American Legion playoffs, Haggerty showed his prowess at the plate against Fort. Kim Willoughby - Assumption High (La.)

Willoughby helped end the West's eight-game losing streak to the East at the Coca-Cola Louisiana High School Coaches' Association All-Star volleyball match. In her team's 15-2, 4-15, 15-9, 15-6 victory, Willoughby contributed 15 kills, seven digs, three blocks and an astounding .480 hitting percentage. She will be attending the University of Hawaii this fall.

Jimmy Wilson - Phoenix Christian High (Ariz.)

Wilson, a running back, has opted to play for Washington State this year, choosing the Cougars over Northwestern, USC, Purdue and Colorado State. The only downside is that Desert Vista High (Ariz.) superstar quarterback John Rattay, who was considering Washington State, chose to attend the University of Arizona.
