Opponents hit only .127 against Harrington, as the senior hurler went 10-0 with a 0.59 ERA and 113 strikeouts. Harrington's fastball has been clocked at 98 mph, and the Colorado Rockies selected him as the seventh overall pick in the Major League Baseball draft on June 5.

Softball
Nicole Neuerburg - Brazoswood High (Texas)
Monique Henderson
Monique Henderson hopes to represent the U.S. in Sydney at the Summer Games.
Neuerburg achieved perfection this season. She never allowed an earned run and went a perfect 33-0 on the mound. As for Brazoswood, which finished No. 2 in the final SchoolSports.com Top 25, the team won the Class 5A state title with a 15-inning, 1-0 victory over Bryan High. Neuerburg went the distance, striking out 19. She fanned 410 batters this season in a little more than 250 innings pitched.

Girls' outdoor track and field
Monique Henderson - Morse High (Calif.)
The time of 50.74 seconds Henderson turned in running the 400-meter race was not only a national high school record, but it was the third-fastest time by any American woman this year. She will take part in the U.S. Olympic Trials next month for the chance to represent the U.S. in Sydney, Australia.

Boys' outdoor track and field
Rickey Harris - Centreville High (Va.)
His times at the Foot Locker National Outdoor Track & Field Championships speak volumes. Harris won both hurdling events with times of 51.14 seconds (400-meter intermediate) and 13.56 (110-meter high). His time of 50.26 in the 400-meter hurdles this season qualified him for the U.S. Olympic Trials, making him the only male high school participant in the event. He will attend the University of Florida in the fall.

Girls' lacrosse
Lauren Kickham - Mount Hebron High (Md.)
The last time Kickham's team lost was April 18, 1998. That says something. The senior completed her scholastic career with 71 goals and 30 assists this spring. In her four years at Mount Hebron, the girls' lacrosse squad went 79-5 (including a current 50-game winning streak) and won four state championships.

Boy's lacrosse
Ryan Boyle - Gilman School (Md.)
Playing in the tough MIAA Conference, Boyle scored 36 goals and recorded 44 assists this season for 18-1 Gilman. He picked the best times to shine, with a three-goal, three-assist game in the league semifinals. Boyle came back to score four goals and an assist on another in the final.

Boys' tennis
Geoff Russell - Mountain Pointe High (Ariz.) Russell won his second straight state singles title and third in four years this season. Girls' tennis

Wrestling
Chris Rodrigues - Walker School (Ga.)
Rodrigues, who was the only high school grappler to qualify for the U.S. Greco-Roman Wrestling Olympic Trials, wrapped up his high school career with a state championship in the 130-pound weight class. He lost only two matches during his four years at the Walker School (174-2 overall record) and took home an individual state title every winter.

Ice hockey
Bill Zaniboni - Catholic Memorial High (Mass.)

Peirsol, a sophomore, turned in the third-fastest time ever in the 200-meter backstroke (1:57.03) at this year's Phillips 66 USA Championships in Federal Way, Wash. To be sure, no one caught up to the teen during his high school campaign.

Girls' swimming
Marie Labosky - Germantown Academy (Pa.)
Labosky was like a shark among guppies this year, never once losing a high school event. She also qualified for the U.S. Olympic Trials in four different events (1,000-meter freestyle, 400 individual medley, 200 backstroke and 100 backstroke).

Boys' indoor track
Alan Webb - South Lakes High (Va.)

Most of the attention Webb received was during his run at the four-minute mile this spring, but his dominance started during the indoor track season. The junior distance runner recorded the best high school 1,600-meter indoor time this season (4:07.07) at the Virginia Northern Region Indoor Track Championships. He also won the 3,200 at the Virginia Tech Invitational (9:12.81).

In that championship contest, Ross delivered big with 18 kills and three blocks. Four times this season she registered more than 30 kills in a match.

Boys' volleyball
Kevin Hansen - Corona del Mar High (Calif.)
The 6-foot-5 setter led Corona del Mar to its fourth straight section final and the Sea Kings' first Division I championship. Boys' golf
Hunter Mahan - McKinney High (Texas)
As the No. 1-ranked junior golfer in the country, Mahan turned in back-to-back rounds of 68 en route to winning the Class 5A championship this season. It was his second state title in as many years. The USC-bound righty recently led the U.S. junior team to the World Junior Golf team championship in Japan.

Girls' golf
Natalie Gulbis - Granite Bay High (Calif.)
While playing on the Granite Bay boys' golf team, Gulbis was among the elite golfers in the state. She took part in the U.S. Women's Amateur last fall and fired a tournament-record 7-under-par 137.
