All-Star rosters of athletes to attend ESPYs

Michael Jordan will lead an all-star roster of athletes in attendance at the eighth annual ESPY Awards, joined by Super Bowl MVP Kurt Warner, Wayne Gretzky, Mark McGwire, Tiger Woods, Mia Hamm and other members of the U.S. Women's World Cup team, Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong and Australian Open champions Andre Agassi - with his fellow nominee and companion Steffi Graf - and Lindsay Davenport.

The ESPYs, given for Excellence in Sports Performance, honor the top performances and performers from the previous year in sports. In addition, this year will mark the debut of the ESPY Decade Awards, with awards for excellence throughout the 1990s. Emmy Award-winning actor Jimmy Smits will host the ESPYs, which will be aired live from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on Monday, Feb. 14 at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN.

"Our move to a new venue has helped create an excitement about the ESPYs in the sports community that is unmatched in our history," said Jeff Ruhe, executive producer. "We're pleased so many top athletes will be joining us and we're confident this will lead to an even more enjoyable event for our attendees and viewers alike."

Other NFLers expected to attend include Stephen Davis, Michael Irvin, Edgerrin James, Peyton Manning, Jerry Rice, Tyrone Wheatley and Reggie White; future NFL players Joe Hamilton and Michael Vick from college football; hockey's Mario Lemieux; Pete Sampras, winner of six consecutive Male Tennis Performer of the Year ESPY Awards; baseball players Chipper Jones and Robin Ventura; golfers Ben Crenshaw, Julie Inkster and Justin Leonard; basketball stars Dominique Canty, Cynthia Cooper, Yolanda Griffith, Sheryl Swoopes and Stephanie White-McCarty; race car drivers Dale Earnhardt, John Force, Dale Jarrett and Al Unser, Jr.; boxers Evander Holyfield, Roy Jones, Jr. and Pernell Whitaker; Olympic Gold Medal skater Bonnie Blair and her competition for U.S. Female Olympian of the 1990s, 100-meter star Gail Devers; and track's Maurice Greene and Michael Johnson.

In addition to Hamm, members of the victorious 1999 U.S. Women's World Cup soccer team expected at the ESPYs are Brandi Chastain, Julie Foudy, Kristine Lilly, Carla Overbeck and Briana Scurry.

Coaches and administrators expected to be in attendance include Bobby Bowden (FSU football), Joan Cronin (University of Tennessee athletic director), Anson Dorrance (North Carolina women's soccer), Dave Hart (FSU athletic director), Pat Summitt (Tennessee women's basketball) and Joe Torre (N.Y. Yankees).
