| Bell Canadian Open most watched golf telecast on ESPN ESPN's final-round coverage of the Bell Canadian Open on Sunday was the most-watched golf telecast in the network's history. Sunday, Sept. 10's 5-7 p.m. ET coverage of Tiger Woods' one-stroke tournament victory over Grant Waite was seen in 2,743,881 homes, besting the 2,666,445 homes, which tuned into the final round of Woods' victory at January's Mercedes Championships. Sunday's Bell Canadian Open received a 3.45 rating, second only to the final round of the Mercedes Championships' 3.46. Four-round coverage of this year's Bell Canadian Open averaged a 1.53 rating, 1,214,000 homes, up from last year's .78 rating and 602,000 homes. MLS Playoffs and UEFA Champions League begin The 2000 MLS playoffs will kick off on ESPN2 Thursday, Sept. 14, at 8:00 p.m. ET when the Tampa Bay Mutiny host the Los Angeles Galaxy. The match will feature the Mutiny's Carlos Valderrama, the league's assist leader, and Mamadou "Big Mama" Diallo, the league's scoring leader, against the Galaxy, led by U.S. national team player Cobi Jones and Mexican national team member Luis Hernandez. ESPN and ESPN2 will combine to present up to six matches for its fifth straight year of MLS playoff coverage. SportsCenter Special: Bob Knight Live ESPN will present a one-hour, live SportsCenter special Tuesday, Sept. 12, from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. ET with former Indiana University coach Bob Knight. SportsCenter's Jeremy Schaap, who's been in Bloomington, Ind., since Friday covering the story, will conduct the interview. With the debut of "ESPN RealTime" on halftime and pre-and post-game scoreboard shows and SportsCenter, including its "BottomLine," fans will receive game statistics such as running time, scores and ball possession as they change at each stadium. ESPN will provide continuous updates of Summer Olympic results ESPN Inc. will provide extensive coverage of the 2000 Summer Olympics from Sydney, Australia, beginning Wednesday, Sept. 13 and concluding Sunday, Oct. 1. With SportsCenter leading ESPN's multi-platform coverage of Olympic news, ESPNEWS, ESPN.com, ESPN Radio, ESPN The Magazine and SportsTicker will feature reporters, commentators and editors covering the Sydney 2000 games. ESPN and ESPN2 extend agreement for Triple Crown coverage ESPN and ESPN2 have reached an agreement with Triple Crown Productions and NTRA productions to continue its surrounding coverage of the Triple Crown race series, featuring the Kentucky Derby, Preakness Stakes and Belmont Stakes, through 2005. ESPN to hold Action Sports and Music Awards In further recognition of the new breed of professional athlete, ESPN plans to celebrate action sports and its lifestyle music with The Action Sports and Music Awards, Saturday, April 7, 2001, at the Universal Amphitheater in Los Angeles. ESPN to stage X Games events on five continents During the sixth annual X Games today in San Francisco, ESPN, Inc. officially unveiled the specifics of its plans for a major year-round global expansion of its X Games franchise. Over the next 18 months, more than 10 X Games events will be staged on five different continents, including X Games Qualifiers, Junior X Games, the Asian Xtour and the X Games and Winter X Games.
