STOCK WATCH: Fast-Glance Week in Review
August 7, 2006 | Dick's Stock Watch provides a fast-glance review of the past week in the world of sports, charting whose stock is up and whose is down.
STOCK UP
•Tiger Woods continues to dominate the majors. At age 30, he has already won 12 of them after capturing the PGA. Jack Nicklaus won 18 of them, so Tiger is well on his way. He shot 18-under-par to win the PGA … amazing!
•The Dodgers remain hot, winning 19 of their last 22 games.
•Jered Weaver of the Angels became the first AL pitcher to start his career 9-0 since Whitey Ford did it with the Yankees.
•Pitcher Aaron Harang of the Reds continues to impress as Cincinnati tries to make the playoffs.
•Andy Roddick won his first tournament of the year, capturing the event in Cincinnati.
•Runner Asafa Powell equaled his world record in the 100 meters.
STOCK DOWN
•The Mariners have lost 11 straight games as Mike Hargrove's team is really struggling. Seattle dealt Jamie Moyer to the Phillies.
•Vikings wide receiver Koren Robinson ran into problems with the law, charged with a DWI and fleeing the scene of the incident.
•The Red Sox bullpen was a disaster in the series against the Yankees. Joe Torre and Brian Cashman are quite a tandem and the Bronx Bombers never worried after injuries to Gary Sheffield and Hideki Matsui.
•Browns center Alonzo Ephraim was suspended for the first four games of the season for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy.
•Marion Jones also failed an initial doping test and she faces a two-year ban if a second sample comes up dirty.
