Colts lose a game

SPECIAL TO ESPN.COM

Dec. 19, 2005 | Dick's Stock Watch provides a fast-glance review of the past week in the world of sports, charting whose stock is up and whose is down.

STOCK UP

The San Diego Chargers went into Indianapolis and handed the Colts their first loss of the season.

Running back Tiki Barber ran for 220 yards as the Giants beat the Chiefs. Barber broke a 55-year old mark for rushing yards in one game by a Giant.

The Seahawks have won 10 straight as Shaun Alexander had another big game.

The Pistons are an NBA-best 18-3. Chauncey Billups had an amazing game earlier in the week, scoring 28 points while dishing out 19 assists. Flip Saunders hasn't missed a beat since taking over for Larry Brown.

The NCAA deserves credit for its handling of the Randolph Morris situation. When it received additional information, the NCAA lightened the penalty to the Kentucky center. Hopefully the young man can take advantage of this opportunity. It was Santa Claus delivering an early Christmas gift to Tubby Smith and the Wildcats.

The Tennessee Vols were very impressive in winning at Texas Saturday. UCLA won at Michigan as Jordan Farmar and Arron Afflalo were impressive.

The Buffalo Sabres are 10-1 in their last 11 games.

STOCK DOWN

The New York Knicks have lost six straight games to fall to 6-17. New York gave up 71 points in the first half against the Atlanta Hawks on Friday!

Rick Barnes and the Longhorns have to regroup after losing 95-78 at home to Tennessee, the second straight blowout loss for Texas. Remember J.J. Redick scored 41 for Duke in the game before the loss to the Vols.

The Raiders lost their fourth straight game, falling at home to Cleveland. Oakland scored just seven points against the Browns.

Princeton scored 21 points in a game against Monmouth earlier last week.

Despite a coaching change, the Pittsburgh Penguins have won just once in their last 11 games.

Tim Montgomery received a two-year ban and was stripped of his 100-meter record.

Dick Vitale coached the Pistons and the University of Detroit before broadcasting ESPN's first college basketball game in December 1979. Send him a question for possible use on ESPNEWS.
