LLWS pitcher ties record

SPECIAL TO ESPN.COM

Aug. 22, 2005 | Dick's Stock Watch provides a fast-glance review of the past week in the world of sports, charting whose stock is up and whose is down …

Kalen Pimentel — The Little League pitcher from Vista, Calif., struck out 18 in a win over Owensboro, Ky., on Saturday in the Little League World Series. That's right, he tied a record by recording all 18 outs via the K, baby! (By the way, if it's been awhile since your Little League days, a regular game is six innings.)

A.J. Burnett — In his last seven starts, the Marlins' starter is 7-0 with a 1.21 ERA.

Tampa Bay Devil Rays — The Devil Rays swept Cleveland, took two out of three from the Yankees and then swept Texas. Jonny Gomes has been a great story, hitting 17 home runs. Here's a guy who had a heart attack as a youngster but fought back to make the majors.

Tiger Woods — Woods didn't play his best but still was the NEC Invitational winner at Firestone Country Club in Akron, Ohio.

Roger Federer — Federer beat Andy Roddick in straight sets in the finals of the Cincinnati Masters championship.

Shawn Chacon — The Yankees' starter has a 1.64 ERA with New York. He was 1-7 with a 4.09 ERA with the Rockies before joining the Bronx Bombers.

Randy Moss — In an interview airing this week, Moss said he used marijuana. He did not deny using it prior to this season.

Oakland Athletics — The A's lost two straight at home to the Royals as Kansas City broke a 19-game losing streak.

San Diego Chargers, Antonio Gates — The Chargers and Gates should have settled their contract differences earlier. Now the talented tight end might miss the season opener.

Rafael Nadal — Nadal lost in the first round of the Cincinnati Masters championship.
