Stock Watch: FAST-GLANCE WEEK IN REVIEW
March 7, 2005 | Dick's Stock Watch provides a fast-glance review of the past week in the world of sports, charting whose stock is up and whose is down ...
STOCK UP: Calhoun notches career win No. 700
Jim Calhoun -- Calhoun earned career victory No. 700 vs. Georgetown and added No. 701 against Syracuse and Jim Boeheim, who won his 700th the previous week. The Huskies have now won six straight games and nine of their last 10.
Tiger Woods -- Tiger rallied to beat Phil Mickelson at the Doral Open. With the win, Tiger regained his No. 1 position in the world rankings.
Pat Summitt -- Summitt passed Adolph Rupp among Division I coaches (men and women) with career win No. 877.
Allen Iverson -- Iverson, the Philadelphia 76ers star, is averaging more than 37 points per game in his last four outings.
Texas -- The Longhorns got a big win at Oklahoma State on Saturday night. I think that coach Rick Barnes' team, with 20 victories, is a lock to make the NCAA Tournament.
STOCK DOWN: Georgetown loses fifth straight
Georgetown -- After a great start, with eight Big East wins, Georgetown has dropped five in a row. The Hoyas need to beat Seton Hall and Connecticut in the Big East tournament to have any chance of making the Big Dance ... but it won't happen.
U.S. Davis Cup team -- The U.S. tennis team was stunned by a very good Croatian team in the first round in California. Andy Roddick and Andre Agassi lost their matches.
Atlanta Hawks -- The Hawks have lost 11 straight games. It's been a tough season for coach Mike Woodson.
Cleveland Cavaliers -- The Cavs have dropped six in a row, including a 20-point home loss to the Heat on Sunday.
