Stock Watch: FAST-GLANCE WEEK IN REVIEW
Feb. 8, 2005 | Dick's Stock Watch provides a fast-glance review of the past week in the world of sports, charting whose stock is up and whose is down ...
STOCK UP: Patriots win another Super Bowl
New England Patriots — Congratulations to the Super Bowl champion Patriots, who won the championship for the third time in four years. Coach Bill Belichick's team always finds a way to win, and QB Tom Brady is a true champion. WR Deion Branch was the Super Bowl MVP, and the defense made big plays again.
Dan Marino, Steve Young — Marino and Young lead the Class of 2005 into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Brad Miller — Sacramento Kings big man Brad Miller is averaging just over 30 points and 11 rebounds in his past three games.
Phil Mickelson — Mickelson shot a 60 on Friday en route to a five-shot win at the FBR Open. It's the second time he's won this PGA Tour tournament (formerly the Phoenix Open).
STOCK DOWN: Iowa's Pierce dismissed from team
Pierre Pierce — Iowa's star junior guard and leading scorer was thrown off the basketball team by coach Steve Alford because of some off-court troubles. It's a disappointing story for Alford and Co.
NHL — It looks like the NHL season won't happen as negotiations appear to be going nowhere.
Zach Randolph — The Portland Trail Blazers forward shot 0-for-12 from the field against the Los Angeles Lakers last week.
