Stock Watch: FAST-GLANCE WEEK IN REVIEW
Dec. 6, 2004 | Dick's Stock Watch provides a fast-glance review of the past week in the world of sports, charting whose stock is up and whose is down ...
STOCK UP: Illinois makes statement
Illinois -- The Illini blew out Wake Forest in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge and beat Arkansas in Little Rock. Coach Bruce Weber's team looks like the team to beat in the Big Ten.
New England Patriots, Philadelphia Eagles -- These teams just keep on rolling at 11-1, scoring convincing victories Sunday.
San Diego Chargers -- The Chargers now have a two-game lead in the AFC West after beating the Denver Broncos.
Seattle SuperSonics -- The Sonics are 15-3 under coach Nate McMillan. The team went 37-45 last season.
Dirk Nowitzki -- The Dallas Mavericks star had 53 points in a game vs. the Houston last week.
Harry Statham -- Statham, basketball coach of NAIA McKendree College, passed Dean Smith as the all-time winningest college hoops coach.
STOCK DOWN: BCS standings a joke
The BCS -- Are you kidding me? Auburn goes unbeaten through the SEC and has no shot at a national title! Pittsburgh isn't in the top 10 and gets a BCS bowl, while California loses out and ends up in the Holiday Bowl against Texas Tech.
Jason Giambi, Barry Bonds -- Their testimony about steroid use was leaked to the San Francisco Chronicle.
Notre Dame -- Notre Dame decided to fire football coach Tyrone Willingham and then got burned by Urban Meyer.
Ken Jennings -- Jennings finally lost on Jeopardy. He had won 74 straight games and $2.5 million, but he finally went down.
