Tough start for Seminoles

SPECIAL TO ESPN.COM

Nov. 29, 2004 | Dick's Stock Watch provides a fast-glance review of the past week in the world of sports, charting whose stock is up and whose is down ...

Peyton Manning -- Manning threw six more touchdown passes in the Colts' Thanksgiving Day rout of the Lions (to give him 41 this season). He has been unstoppable lately, and he should break Dan Marino's single-season touchdown mark of 48.

LeBron James -- LeBron has been incredible in his sophomore season in the NBA. He became the youngest in league history to score 2,000 points, and he put up 43 big ones vs. the Pistons earlier in the week.

Phil Mickelson -- Mickelson shot a 59 en route to the championship at the Grand Slam of Golf event in Hawaii.

Washington men's hoop -- The Washington Huskies showed something by beating Utah, Oklahoma and Alabama to win the Great Alaska Shootout. Coach Lorenzo Romar's team is a legitimate contender in the Pac-10.

Florida State men's hoop -- The Seminoles were shocked in Tallahassee by Texas A&M-Corpus Christi earlier in the week. It's been a tough start for coach Leonard Hamilton's team.

Florida football -- Florida made a mistake by firing Ron Zook too early. I hope someone will hire him, because he is a quality coach and an outstanding person.

Nebraska football -- Nebraska suffered its first losing season in 43 years. The Cornhuskers' streak of consecutive bowl appearances ends at 35. I wonder if athletic director Steve Pederson misses former coach Frank Solich now?

Boston College football -- BC blew its shot at a BCS bid by getting blown out at home by Syracuse.

New Jersey Nets -- The Nets are off to a horrendous start, and the new ownership has already done damage by breaking up this club. Of course, it hurts that Jason Kidd is injured.
