Bonds joins 700 club

SPECIAL TO ESPN.COM

Sept. 20, 2004 | Dick's Stock Watch provides a fast-glance review of the past week in the world of sports, charting whose stock is up and whose is down ...

Bonds

Barry Bonds -- Bonds hit his 700th home run, going deep off of Padres pitcher Jake Peavy on Friday night. Think about it ... 700 home runs, joining Babe Ruth and Hank Aaron as the only sluggers to hit 700 in major-league history.

Bernard Hopkins -- Hopkins showed a lot by knocking out Oscar De La Hoya in the ninth round on Saturday night in Las Vegas. It was Hopkins' 19th middleweight title defense.

European Ryder Cup team -- The Europeans were dominant, coming into Oakland Hills in Michigan and walking away with an easy victory.

Maurice Drew -- The UCLA running back rushed for a school-record 322 yards and five touchdowns in a wild 37-31 win over Washington.

Andrew Walter -- The Arizona State quarterback threw for 428 yards and five touchdowns as the Sun Devils blitzed Iowa.

Vinny Testaverde -- The Dallas Cowboys veteran became the first quarterback older than 40 to post consecutive 300-plus passing games.

Frank Francisco -- The Texas Rangers relief pitcher was suspended for the rest of the season for throwing a chair in the stands during a brawl in Oakland. No matter what fans say, there is no excuse for that type of action.

U.S. Ryder Cup team -- With the likes of Tiger Wood and Phil Mickelson, the U.S. lost 18½ to 9½ to Europe. Mickelson really struggled all weekend.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers -- The Bucs are 0-2 after losing 10-6 to the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday. The Bucs are struggling on offense (16 points in two games).
