STOCK UP: Greg Maddux joins the 300 club
Greg Maddux -- Maddux became the 22nd pitcher in major-league history to reach the 300-win plateau.

Jaret Wright -- The Atlanta Braves' starter has really turned things around. In his past six starts, he's 5-0 with a 1.41 ERA. Manager Bobby Cox has done a great job with Wright and the Braves this season.

Johan Santana -- The Minnesota Twins' starter may be the hottest pitcher in baseball. In his past 12 starts, he's 9-2 with a 1.69 ERA, 122 strikeouts and only 19 walks. He's allowed three earned runs or less in all 12 of those starts.

New York Yankees -- The Yankees in the Bronx are almost unbeatable. Manager Joe Torre's team is 40-9 in its past 49 home games.

Andre Agassi -- Just when people were starting to question Agassi, he wins the ATP tournament in Cincinnati, beating Lleyton Hewitt, Andy Roddick and Carlos Moya along the way.

STOCK DOWN: Celtics trade for Gary Payton
Danny Ainge -- What was Boston Celtics GM Danny Ainge thinking when he acquired Gary Payton from the Los Angeles Lakers? Ainge gave up some good young talent (Chris Mihm, Marcus Banks and Chucky Atkins).

Quincy Carter -- The Dallas Cowboys' QB was cut by coach Bill Parcells. Whatever the reason, he is unemployed right now. He has to get his life back in order.

Tim Wakefield -- The Boston Red Sox knuckleballer gave up six home runs to the Detroit Tigers on Sunday. He still won the game!

New York Mets -- The Mets totaled seven runs in being swept three straight on the road vs. the St. Louis Cardinals. Imagine if we have a Cards-Yankees World Series, a battle of the paisons ... Tony La Russa against Joe Torre!

San Diego Padres -- The Padres went 1-6 in their past seven games, all at home, as they try to battle for the wild card.

Carlos Tosca -- Tosca was fired as manager of the Toronto Blue Jays. It's always sad to see a manager lose his job.
