Stock Watch: FAST-GLANCE WEEK IN REVIEW
July 5, 2004 | Dick's Stock Watch provides a fast-glance review of the past week in the world of sports, charting whose stock is up and whose is down...
STOCK UP: Big Unit rings 'em up
Randy Johnson -- The Big Unit got his 4000th career strikeout earlier in the week against San Diego and then he earned a win on Sunday, as well as an All-Star berth.
Maria Sharapova -- The 17-year old who won Wimbledon as a 13th seed. She beat Serena Williams in straight sets. I saw Sharapova practice down in Florida about a month ago and she is the real deal.
Roger Federer -- Federer beat Andy Roddick in four sets to win consecutive Wimbledon men's singles championships.
Pittsburgh Pirates -- The Bucs have won nine straight games, their longest streak since 1996. Let me tell you, PNC Park is a beautiful place to watch a ballgame.
Richard Hidalgo -- Hidalgo has been on fire with four straight wins. Hidalgo has been an absolute steal for Art Howe's team.
STOCK DOWN: Red Sox, Yankees in disarray
Boston Red Sox -- The Sox are 1-5 in their last six games.
New York Yankees -- The Yankees were swept by the Mets and lost the Subway Series for the first time by dropping four of the six meetings. The Yankee starters have been getting hit lately.
Kansas City Royals -- The Royals are 1-9 in their last 10 games.
New York Liberty -- The Liberty fired Richie Adubato despite him leading them to three Eastern Conference championships but the team struggled recently. It is all about what have you done for me lately.
