Stock Watch: FAST-GLANCE WEEK IN REVIEW
March 29, 2004 | Dick's Stock Watch provides a fast-glance review of the past week in the world of sports, charting whose stock is up and whose is down...
STOCK UP: Four teams heading to San Antonio
Final Four teams -- Connecticut, Oklahoma State, Duke and Georgia Tech all going to the Final Four in San Antonio! What excitement over the weekend as the Duke-Xavier, Oklahoma State-St. Joe's and Georgia Tech-Kansas games were classics.
Memphis Grizzlies -- The Grizzlies are in the playoffs, and coach Hubie Brown's club has won five in a row. What a tremendous turnaround for Brown, GM Jerry West and Co. I coached against Hubie in New Jersey many years ago. I'm happy to see him having so much success.
LeBron James -- LeBron became the youngest player to score 40-plus points in a game, scoring 41 in the Cleveland Cavaliers' 107-104 win over the New Jersey Nets on Saturday night.
Miami Heat -- Despite losing Sunday, the Heat are 7-1 in their last eight games, and it looks like they could end up in the playoffs even though they opened the season 0-7.
Grace Park -- Park won the LPGA Kraft Nabisco event, her first LPGA major championship.
STOCK DOWN: Miami's Perry Clark situation
Miami-Florida -- Miami could have handled the firing of basketball coach Perry Clark better. If you're going to make a decision, make it -- don't leave a guy hanging out to dry for about two weeks.
Tiger Woods, John Daly -- Daly shot an 80 in the final round of The Players Championship, while Tiger finished tied for 16th in the event.
Michelle Kwan -- Kwan struggled and finished third in the World Figure Skating Championships.
Los Angeles Clippers -- The Clippers have been struggling again. It's been a rough season for coach Mike Dunleavy and Co. The Clippers lost their eighth straight game Sunday night.
