Patriots, Panthers eye Super Bowl prize

SPECIAL TO ESPN.COM

Jan. 30, 2004 | ESPN.com's Super Bowl coverage

As a football fan, the excitement is building up to this Sunday's Super Bowl. Everyone is doing analysis and breaking down the New England Patriots vs. the Carolina Panthers. I can't wait for the game to start, baby!
How do you go against Bill Belichick when he has two weeks to prepare?

As a season-ticket holder of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (I hope they get back to the winner's circle next season), I really love the game. That said, here are my thoughts on the Super Bowl...

How do you go against coach Bill Belichick when he has two weeks to prepare? The Patriots have won 14 in a row, and there are reasons for that -- teamwork and preparation. You have to idolize QB Tom Brady because he has the total package: good lucks, talent on the field and a lovable personality!

The bottom line is that Brady will get his second Super Bowl ring. Hey, where are all the stars? It's Brady vs. Jake Delhomme at quarterback ... wow!

Coach John Fox has done a tremendous job in Carolina, and his Panthers will fight till the end. DE Julius Peppers is a tremendous athlete. I loved watching him perform his power dunks on the basketball court as a member of the North Carolina Tar Heels. He has enjoyed an outstanding start to his NFL career.

When it's all said and done, I think Belichick's team will get back to the winner's circle. Wow, 15 in a row at this level, that's amazing! Brady always finds a way to get it done by minimizing mistakes and making the key plays.

Prediction: New England 21, Carolina 14
