The NBA does recognize consistency. That's why Spurs center Tim Duncan has earned his second straight MVP award.

He's the first player to go back-to-back since Michael Jordan in 1991 and '92 -- and that's pretty good company to keep.

It couldn't happen to a better guy than Duncan. He comes to play every day and does it without flare or spectacular ability. Duncan just goes out on the court and posts his double-doubles, showing a workmanlike effort.

He's the main reason why the Spurs are the top seed in the Western Conference.

At Wake Forest, he was the same type of player for four seasons. He was not heavily recruited, and he was not a McDonald's All-American out of high school. He wasn't a superstar, but with hard work he became one of the premier players in the NBA.

Tim Duncan is a true professional who once again deserves this honor as MVP.
