Diener, Jones lead first weekend all-stars

SPECIAL TO ESPN.COM

The first two rounds of the NCAA Tournament produced plenty of exciting moments and there were a number of outstanding performances.

Picking my All-Tournament team for the first two rounds wasn't easy. All of my picks are players who advanced to the Sweet 16.

Travis Diener, Marquette
Diener totaled 55 points in first two games. He hit 17 of 26 field goals and made five trifectas in each game. Diener reminds me of a Mark Price-type player; he has come up big with Dwyane Wade struggling with his shot.

Dahntay Jones, Duke
Jones scored 23 points in the opening-round win over Colorado State and followed that up with 28 against Central Michigan. He has been aggressive on the baseline while giving the Blue Devils a lift at the start of both games. Next up is a great challenge against Kansas.

Emeka Okafor, Connecticut
Okafor has been dominant inside, hitting 17 of 27 shots while averaging 19 points and 11.5 rebounds in the first two games. He will have a test against James Thomas of Texas in the Sweet 16.

Nick Collison, Kansas
Speaking of players capable of scoring inside, Nick Collison of Kansas has converted 18 of 24 field goals in the first two games.

Marquis Daniels, Auburn
Daniels has come through big time. Yes, I believe in Auburn now. Daniels had 25 points in a first round win over St. Joe's, then 18 points against Wake Forest.
