Bucs, Serena look Super

SPECIAL TO ESPN.COM

Jan. 27
Dick's Stock Watch identifies whose stock is up and whose is down over the past week across the world of sports.

Buccaneers -- The Tampa Bay Bucs proved me right. The defense dominated, and the investment Malcolm Glazer made in getting Jon Gruden was a great one; it really paid off as he led the Bucs to the championship in his first season. Gruden became the youngest coach to win the Super Bowl, and this team had five defensive players who are arguably the best at their position -- Warren Sapp, Derrick Brooks, Simeon Rice, John Lynch and Ronde Barber. There is going to be some celebration down here in Florida, baby!

Serena Williams -- Serena Williams completed her Serena Slam, holding all four major championships after beating her sister Venus in three sets in the Australian Open finals. Serena is certainly the dominant force in women's tennis right now.

Andre Agassi -- Andre Agassi keeps on rolling too! He lost just one set in winning his fourth Australian Open men's title. That was also his eighth career Grand Slam singles championship. I can't wait to see him play mixed doubles with his wife, Steffi Graf, at the French Open.

Paul Pierce -- Paul Pierce dominated on Friday night against the Nuggets, scoring 45 of the Celtics' 77 points in the win. That's not a CYO game, either...

New Pro Football Hall of Famers -- Congratulations to Marcus Allen, James Lofton, Hank Stram, Elvin Bethea and Joe DeLamellieure on being named as the newest members of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Oakland Raiders -- You have to call the Raiders performance disappointing. They didn't look like they felt they had a chance when they came out of the locker room for the second half, and that is surprising to me. This was the Super Bowl, THE game, yet the looks on their faces said it all.

Los Angeles Lakers -- What wrong with the Lakers? At 19-23, following back-to-back losses to Golden State and New Jersey, Los Angeles is in danger of missing the playoffs. The Lakers lost 24 games all of last season.

Alabama Crimson Tide -- Where was Alabama's offense Saturday night. My buddy Dan Shulman and I called the Kentucky-Alabama game and the Tide offense didn't bother to show up. Mark Gottfried's team had 30 points in the first 30 minutes. Give some credit to Tubby Smith's defense, but Alabama isn't the same team that was ranked #1 a few weeks back.

Vernon Forrest -- Vernon Forrest entered the ring Saturday night as the welterweight champion, rapping to music. He left the ring after being rapped in a third-round TKO loss to Ricardo Mayorga.
